Positive: We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Parkside Cottage! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the thoughtful room layout and pristine cleanliness. The bedroom was warm and comfortable, with both air conditioning and a radiator ensuring the perfect temperature at any time of day. The large, white sofa was super cozy, and the tasteful décor—especially the two horse paintings in the living room—really caught our attention (a special treat for us, since our two daughters were born in the Year of the Horse!). The outdoor deck was another highlight, complete with a BBQ grill and ample seating for enjoying morning coffee or evening drinks. Inside, the decorative cabinet and the handy travel information binder showed real attention to detail. We were blown away by the kitchen setup: it was spotless and stocked with an amazing variety of flavoured butters that made cooking breakfast a joy. All in all, Parkside Cottage went above and beyond our expectations—I can’t recommend it highly enough!
Negative: Additional Feedback on Parkside Cottage & Napier Trip While we truly enjoyed our stay at Parkside Cottage and the beauty of Napier, there were a few drawbacks worth mentioning: Outdated Door Key: The cottage door still uses an old-fashioned skeleton key that was very fiddly and difficult to operate. No Bathroom Lock: The bathroom lacked any locking mechanism, so we had to improvise our own “Occupied” sign to ensure privacy. Transport Disruptions in Napier: On our return journey to Auckland, the mountain pass on State Highway 1 was closed for three hours due to a tanker accident. This closure led to four separate detours at night, significantly extending our travel time and causing frustration. Despite these issues, the charm of the cottage and the highlights of Napier still made for a memorable trip—but these points could definitely be improved for future guests.

Positive: Everything 😁 Check in was a breeze. Having the basic staples eg cereal,bread etc was fantastic. The place was nice and cosy, very clean. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Would not hesitate to book again 😁

Positive: Beautiful layout with everything you might need but the best part about the property was the special extras provided by the owners. I was expecting there to be tea, coffee and milk, but this place went above and beyond. A loaf of Vogels bread and half a dozen pots of yoghurt in the fridge, a large selection of spreads and sauces, three large jars of cereal (Weetbix, cornflakes and muesli) filter coffee and a plunger, a tray of mints in the lounge, a tub of washing powder in the laundry, the guest towels folded into the shape of a teddy bear. There were so many personal touches, it made us feel as though the owners had gone out of their way to ensure we had everything we might need after a long drive. It was wonderful, thank you.
Negative: The lock on the front door was a bit temperamental and took quite some time to lock the door from the inside.
Summary: Lovely, comfortable property with owners who obviously care.
